On Wednesday, FreshDirect workers joined elected officials and community leaders for the launch of FoodKick, its new on-demand food delivery service. The ribbon-cutting ceremony took place at FoodKick’s Williamsburg headquarters at 630 Flushing Avenue.
A new mobile-first food business, FoodKick connects consumers to the freshest, tastiest food, drinks and lifestyle essentials – all delivered within an hour.
Foodkick also brings employment opportunities to Brooklyn while complementing FreshDirect’s residential and office businesses, with the combined portfolio poised to meet the full range of food shopper’s needs.
“Great fresh food has always been the core of our business,” said Jason Ackerman, FreshDirect’s co-founder and CEO. “FoodKick extends that passion to a growing consumer base, serving up exciting food solutions and tailored ideas every time a customer opens the app.”
FoodKick will curate and rotate new food finds and solutions for the on-demand consumer, including meal hacks, food and alcohol pairings, farm-fresh seasonal produce, pantry staples and home essentials. In addition, FoodKick will feature a growing selection of new and limited-time offerings from partners such as Cocktail Courier, Indie Fresh, Hungry Root and Mille-feuille. An in-house culinary team will prepare made-to-order sushi, meat and seafood.
