“The Art of Craft” is coming to Greenpoint.
Artrider Productions brings its latest show, CRAFT|BROOKLYN, to the Brooklyn Expo Center this December, featuring 100 makers exhibiting and selling one-of-a-kind gifts and modern works.
The exhibitors, indie artists from 15 states, embody the diversity of the American contemporary craft and maker movement by combining time-honored traditions with cutting edge design, organizers say.
CRAFT|BROOKLYN will combine masters in their fields, bringing a modern tilt to a lifetime of exploration, with emerging artists, bringing new creative visions to object making. Their commonality is a commitment to excellence, independence and adventure. There will be one-of-a-kind and limited edition creations of contemporary ceramics, wood furniture, wearable-art fashions and objects, steel sculpture, blown glass, mixed media home furnishings and more.
Visitors should also plan to explore the gourmet food and specialties section to fully experience hand-crafted delights.
On Friday, December 4, CRAFT|BROOKLYN will host a preview party from 4pm to 8pm offering shoppers “first dibs” on the one-of-a-kind pieces from the 100 modern makers in attendance. Helping to set the mood will be DJ Supertouch and complimentary beverages from Captain Lawrence Brewing and Hillrock Estate Distillery.
The Brooklyn Collage Collective is also joining CRAFT|BROOKLYN, displaying and selling individual work from its 10 members and hosting a live collage event throughout the show. The collaborative piece will be raffled off after the show with all proceeds benefiting CERF+ (the Craft Emergency Relief Fund plus Artists’ Emergency Resources).
