For those mourning the loss of the Brooklyn Flea market and the Brooklyn Night Bazaar, there’s a new replacement in town.
Sunday marked the launch of Rock n’ Shop @ The Paper Box, a weekly market selling clothing, food, jewelry, art, tattoos, and more.
The market is the idea of up and coming rock band, The Bushwick Hotel, led by Gregory Ferreira, who formed the band in 2012 by assembling a bunch of local musicians including Matt La Von, Erik Naslund, Rudy Temiz, and Ben Teters.
The Paper Box is a concert venue and art space located on Meadow Street in East Williamsburg.
With a 250 capacity main room, a 150 capacity smaller room, and a backyard with a stage that fits another 150 people, expect large crowds to make their way to the Paper Box for the market.
In the past, the venue has played host music concerts, theater productions, and book readings.
Over 40 vendors have already signed up to be a part of Rock n’Shop.
Here’s a list of some of the most eye-popping ones:
McMillan & Boyce – a family business that’s been around since 1859, and sells vintage magazines, and all sorts of literary paraphernalia.
JonGoodChocolates – Star Wars inspired and handcrafted chocolates.
Rock and Roll Supplies – sells vintage guitars, drums, effects pedals, mic stands, mics, pro audio outboard gear, and keyboards.
Traze – a restaurant specializing in the “Falafel Pizza.”
Ulyss Blair of the Magic Cobra Tattoo Society – recently won the 2015 “best in show,” award at the Copenhagen International Tattoo Convention.
In addition to the shopping, the Market will also play live music sessions, with a different set of musicians being featured every Sunday.
