Assemblyman Joe Lentol announced last week that he helped organize a visit by the Lennon Bus to the Jose de Diego Magnet School for the Visual Arts and Sciences (PS 84) in Williamsburg.
The Lennon Bus, which made its first stop to the neighborhood last year at the Williamsburg Northside Schools, is a state-of-the-art mobile audio and HD video recording and production facility. The bus is dedicated to providing young people with tours of the studio and participation in free songwriting and multimedia production workshops.
With Lentol’s help, PS 84 was able to secure a visit for the Lennon Bus’ New York City tour. The Lennon Bus also donated over $3,000 worth of musical equipment to the school’s newly formed band program.
“Unfortunately, funding for music in our schools has been severely cut, but its programs like the Lennon Bus that remind children of the importance of music,” Lentol said. “I am delighted the Lennon Bus decided to come back to my district this year, and I look forward to many more visits in the future.”
