Tickets are now on sale for the sixth iteration of Taste Williamsburg Greenpoint, the annual food festival held to raise funds for the Northside Town Hall Community and Cultural Center (NTHCC).
On September 13, East River State Park will host dozens of the most popular restaurants and food vendors from North Brooklyn.
For $35 a head, people will sample foods from the Brooklyn Star, Rosarito Fish Shack and Maison Premiere among others.
Libations will be provided by the likes of Huckleberry Bar, Hotel Delmano, and Black Bear Bar.
The festival is organized by Brooklyn Allied Bars and Restaurants (BABAR), the local restaurant and bar coalition, along with several community partners like Brooklyn Brewery and Neighbors Allied for Good Growth (NAG).
“Taste Williamsburg Greenpoint is an exciting example of local business and residents coming together to build a better community,” says Felice Kirby, Vice President, Northside Town Hall Community and Culture Center. “In our sixth year of organizing this fun and delicious festival, the community participation has grown to represent the absolute best that North Brooklyn has to offer…Seeing this industry play such a positive and generous role for the community is inspiring.”
The group is about a $1 million away from its $2.6 million target to build the community center. The building, located on Wythe Avenue between North 8th and 9th Streets, was once home to the FDNY’s Engine 212. Through a competitive application process NAG and the People’s Firehouse Inc. were able to obtain ownership of the building. Once complete, the building will be their permanent home, in addition to serving as an arts and civic center for the North Brooklyn community hosting exhibitions, classes, events, and a wide range of cultural programming.
