On Wednesday, March 4th, Deputy Brooklyn Borough President Diana Reyna stopped by the Williamsburg High School for Architecture and Design (WHSAD) for a visit. As a Councilmember, Reyna strongly supported WHSAD’s architecture program, having paid numerous visits to the school and also serving as a speaker at WHSAD’s 2009 graduation.
The students filled her in on the community projects they are working on with the Greenpoint Youth Court, including the Groundswell Mural Project sponsored by the Greenpoint Chamber of Commerce and also the Walentas Family Grant which will result in the design and building of 15 garden boxes throughout Greenpoint. During her visit Reyna reminded students that there is a high need for skilled workers in the fields of construction and architecture. She called on the students to work to their full potential and to never lose sight of the opportunities they can find right here in Brooklyn and at WHSAD.
