On Thursday, October 25th, Councilmember Diana Reyna joined the North Brooklyn Coalition Against Family Violence at their annual domestic violence vigil and march. The rally, which commemorates domestic violence awareness month, began in the Driggs Avenue parking lot of JHS 50, making its way to the 90th Precinct’s station for the vigil. Members of community groups such as Southside United HDFC (Los Sures), St. Nicks Alliance, Brooklyn Legal Services Corp. A and Community Driven Solutions, Inc. joined Reyna, the Coalition and representatives from the Mayor’s Office to Combat Domestic Violence to remember those victims who had been lost to domestic violence and to remind people to be vigilant against the crime.
“I have had the privilege of working with the North Brooklyn Coalition Against Family Violence since its inception, allowing me to truly understand and see the impact this organization has had on the lives of survivors in our community,” said Reyna. “They are essential in providing counseling and advocacy for a group of people that is too often without a voice or source of help.”
